Q: When I try to play, the Launcher gives me the error: “Cannot connect to server 12029c37”. Help?
A: This connection issue is due to an old or cached IP address. Reset your IP address by:
1. In XP: Click Start and choose Run. Type “CMD” in press ENTER / In Vista: Click Windows, type “CMD in the search box and press ENTER.
2. In the command shell (looks likeDOS) type: ipconfig /flushdns
3. Press ENTER
4. Close the command window.
You can also try disabling your network connection and re-enabling it within Windows. If you have an external router, try power-cycling it. Then start Shaiya.
If this doesn't seem to help, please try the steps in the next entry...

Q: Why do I get the error “Download Failed: Cannot read file. c25” when I try to play Shaiya?

A: This connection issue is usually the fault of firewall or anti-virus software. Try toggling your firewalls (if they’re on turn them off, if they’re off turn them on) and try these steps:
1. If you have Windows Firewall enabled, set it to allow Shaiya.
2. If you are on Windows Vista, make sure that it will allow Shaiya.
3. If you have any firewall or anti-virus programs (ZoneAlarm, McAfee, Symantec, etc) make sure that they are not blocking Shaiya.
4. If you are routing through a home network or a business, make sure that the network is not blocking Shaiya or cross-network access.
5. If you are on Windows Vista 64 (64-bit, not 32-bit) you may be encountering an incompatibility issue with Shaiya. There is no current workaround for Vista 64-bit.

Q: I try to play Shaiya, but my computer keeps restarting. Any suggestions?

A: When any program repeatedly shuts down your computer, chances are you’re running Windows XP and Windows is encountering a conflict. In Windows XP, the default setting is for the computer to reboot automatically when a fatal error occurs. (Pretty useless if you're trying to troubleshoot, isn’t it?)

To change the recovery settings and disable automatic rebooting:
1. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
2. Click the Advanced tab.
3. Under Startup and Recovery, click Settings to open the Startup and Recovery dialog box.
4. Clear the Automatically restart check box, and click OK the necessary number of times.
5. Restart your computer for the settings to take effect.

Now when a fatal error occurs, you'll at least see it and it won't cause an automatic reboot. You still have to sort out what's causing the problem, but at least you’ll have a starting point.

Q: Why do I get weird graphics/no textures/serious lag when playing Shaiya?

A: Please make sure that your computer meets or exceeds the systems requirements for Shaiya. Pay close attention to you processor’s speed, the amount of system RAM you have and your video card specs. Also, make sure that you are running the most recent version of the drivers for your video card.

Q: I am having problems downloading Shaiya. Can you help?

A: Unfortunately, not really. You can try any of the connection-related items already listed, or if you’re running a router, try bypassing it; but if you can’t download the game, check your system or network setup, or try contacting the mirror site you’re downloading from.

Q: Why am I getting such poor framerate?

A: First, make sure that your computer meets or exceeds the system requirements for Shaiya. Next, please shut down all other programs before starting Shaiya. If you’re sharing your network, make sure that no one else is hogging all of your bandwidth.

Q: Why doesn’t Shaiya support more monitor resolutions?

A: This came up in Closed Beta, but we didn’t have time to implement a fix. Meanwhile, you can input your own resolution by following these steps. HOWEVER, if you are uncomfortable editing critical files, please do not attempt this!
1. Shut down Shaiya.
2. Find your Shaiya folder. (c:/Aeria Games/Shaiya, usually)
3. In that folder, find and open the file named CONFIG.INI with Notepad or Wordpad. Make a backup copy before editing in case you mess something up, if so, just delete the messed up file and replace with your backup.
4. You then look at the top and you'll easily see the resolution configuration (SIZE_X=... and SIZE_Y=... where x is width and y is height).
5. Change the numbers to your needs, but do NOT exceed the maximum resolution of your monitor.
6. Save your changes and close the file.
7. Start the game, voilà!

Note: on older computers, this could drop the framerate and maybe make the game unplayable.
IMPORTANT: Do not go over your monitors max resolution, and do not change any other settings! (Special thanks to w3ty69p71)
