In Game and PVP Behavior

At the moment, the consumer advice centre is warning of an increased volume of phishing e-mails.

Unfortunately, we have recently received more and more information that there are also e-mails in circulation that advertise an Aeria competition.

Such a competition does not exist. This is an unauthorized promotion.

In the email you will be asked to follow a link and on a deceptively real copy of our website you will be asked to enter your account information.

If you have received such a message, please delete it immediately. Please do not click on the link and never enter your account information on other websites.

If you have already followed a link from such a message, immediately change your password using the "Forgot your password?“ function on the website of your game.

Before you enter your account name and password, you should always check the URL of the website you are currently on.

  • Some disturbing things have been happening in the game and especially in PVP lately. There seems to be a lot of people screaming "hack", "bug user", along with swearing, inappropriate discussions, racist comments, and elitism occurring. First, let me point out that all of these actions are detrimental to the community. Second, it is not logical to insult, harass, or even ban each other and expect to have PVP players hang around. If you drive players from the game or have them removed from it who do you expect to PVP with?

    Before you refer to someone as trash, or bug user, or hack, before you kick someone from a raid, before you look for a reason to have a player banned. stop and think about the possible outcome of your actions. Is what you are about to say or do, going to violate any condition deemed as inappropriate behavior? Is it really worth risking having all of your accounts banned just to get a few levels or kills? Is being one up and your opponent so important that you lose sight of your ethics and integrity? Do you really think that you are being cool by talking about forbidden subjects in public areas?

    So to keep PVP active and enjoyable for all, I would like to remind everyone about conduct during PVP. I have posted some excerpts from Player's Ethics, Official Rules (concerning PVP), ToS, Harassment and Discrimination, Play Nice Policies, and some points from PVP Discussion Behavior. I'm not rehashing all of these topics, just pointing out areas in them that some people seem to be ignoring. Please be aware that the same conduct policies apply across all forms of Shaiya communication, be it in-game, forums, or Discord.

    Please note that some players are banned during PvP due to violating conditions set forth in these topics. So please do not be surprised by any bans.

    From ToS:

      1. The following actions are specifically prohibited:
        • using content that may offend or defame other users or third parties
      2. Furthermore, the following activities are also forbidden irrespective of any legal violation when using the games and when communicating with other users (e.g. as a result of sending personal messages):
        • sending junk or spam messages as well as chain letters
        • propagating offensive, indecent, sexual, obscene or defamatory content or communications as well as any content or communications that promote or supports racism, extremism, hate, physical violence or illegal acts (whether explicit or implicit)
        • harassing other participants, e.g. by means of repeated personal contact without, or contrary to, the reaction of the other participants as well as promoting or supporting said harassment
        • propagating and/or publicly reproducing the content available in the games, unless this is explicitly permitted by the author or explicitly made available as a function of the game in question
      3. Any act aimed at negatively affecting the smooth running of the games is also prohibited, especially overloading the provider’s systems. In particular, the following acts are prohibited:
        • using or advertising tools which interfere with scoring or the course of play (so-called “bots”, “hacks” or “cheats”)
        • completely or partially blocking, overwriting, diverting or modifying the games and content made available by the provider
        • deliberating exploiting programming errors for personal gain (so-called “exploits”)

    For serious violations, immediate termination is permitted without there being a need for a prior warning. A serious violation is a violation for which the provider cannot be expected to adhere to the contract. As a rule, this is

    1. if the user violates criminal laws;
    2. if the user uses the account or a game in an unpermitted manner;
    3. if the user provides incorrect data when registering or when paying for fee-based services;
    4. the user meets termination conditions when using any of his/her other accounts;

    Hamburg, 17.05.2018

    From Player's Ethics:

    1. You may not harass or threaten other players.
    2. You may not use any content, which is harassing, vulgar, obscene, abusive, threatening, harmful, libelous or defamatory, encourages conduct that could constitute a criminal offense or give rise to civil liabilities, or is unlawful in any other way.
    3. You may not organize nor be a member of any clans or groups within the Game that are based on, or espouse, any racist, sexist, anti-religious, anti-ethnic, or other hate-mongering philosophy.
    4. You may not modify any part of the Game Client, Server or any part of the Game.
    5. You will not exploit any bug in the Game and you will not communicate the existence of any such exploitable bug (bugs that grant the user unnatural or unintended benefits in game), either directly or indirectly, to any other Game player. You will promptly report any such bug via official and prescribed channels to Aeria Games & Entertainment.
    6. You will not operate any software that interferes with, or interacts with the game in such a manner as to provide an advantage to the user.

    From Play Nice Policies:

    In addition to the general guidelines listed in Player Ethics Guide, players are also subject to these supplementary rules while playing the Game and as these are considered as part of the Ethics Guide.

    While by no means an all-inclusive list of the do's and don'ts in the Game, it provides a suitable guideline in which players can determine what activities are appropriate:

    You may not use any language that is offensive, of racist nature, obscene or otherwise inappropriate. This includes, but is not limited to, all manners of swearing, threats, blackmail, discussion of recreational drugs, sexually explicit language and racism or anything prejudice. As offensive can be interpreted in many forms, it will be the mandate of Aeria Games & Entertainment to make a determination as to whether or not a "reasonable person" would feel offended and act accordingly.

    You may not harass other players. Harassment is defined as specifically targeting another player , or group of players, to harm or inconvenience them. As harassment can take many forms, it will be the mandate of Aeria Games & Entertainment to make a determination as to whether or not a "reasonable person" would feel harassed and act accordingly.

    You may not discriminate against other players or groups. Discrimination is the treatment of a person based on the group, clan, or category to which that person belongs rather than on individual merit. As discrimination can take many forms, it will be the mandate of Aeria Games & Entertainment to make a determination as to whether or not a "reasonable person" would feel discriminated against and act accordingly.

    You may not disrupt normal gameplay. Any repeated activities that result in disruption of normal gameplay are prohibited. As defining normal gameplay can take many forms, it will be the mandate of Aeria Games & Entertainment to make a determination as to whether or not a "reasonable person" would be unable to play normally and act accordingly.

    You may not engage in fraudulent behavior. Fraud is the misrepresentation of facts for personal benefit.

    You may not operate a clan, guild, or any other group that violates these rules.

    From Harassment and Discrimination:

    ... flaming or casting a negative image on broad or specific groups of people will not be tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:

    • Everyone (trolling)
    • Race, religion, or sexual orientation/identity
    • Geographical region or nationality
    • Aeria staff
    • GameMasters
    • Players of any particular game
    • AP spending or non-AP spending players
    • Guild affiliation
    • Faction affiliation
    • PvP level affiliation

    Do not attack groups with generalizations or stereotypes: This is behavior that is destructive to our community, and ruins the experience of everybody who visits...

  • From Official Rules:

    1.Raiding the opposite faction’s base:

    Raiding the opposite faction’s base is not allowed behind the opposite faction's camp, because it's not honorable killing afk people. You can kill players everywhere else except in Respawn Points, which are protected with an invisible field. Trying to circumvent the Respawn point’s protection/Spawn Killing is prohibited.

    2. Portal killing/Spawn Killing:

    Portal Killing is when a user from the opposite faction continually kills users who are trying to load into the current zone. This includes killing players before they have a chance to step out of the portal. (very similar to Spawn Killing) This does not include killing players after they have left the immediate location, talked, or have done anything to show that they are not idle. We recommend staying away from the portals so that you do not have to worry about getting banned for these types of offenses. This rule concerns all PvP battlegrounds and contested territories such as Stable Erde that are accessed through portals.
    Spawn killing is prohibited as well.
    EXCEPTION: The only exception when spawn killing is at all allowed in the game is defending boss rooms (Opalus, Dios, Serafin and similar) from the opposing faction, which is a behavior that's been present in the game for some time.

    3. Stat Padding:

    Stat padding is defined as killing a character who willingly and consistently allows him/herself to be killed with the objective of helping other players increase their kill count. Any user caught stat padding (both killing and being killed) will receive a ban and have all their kills wiped from all characters. Additional action may be taken for repeat offenders and or a permanent ban can be issued to the player.

    4. Terrain Exploits:

    A Terrain exploit is defined as making use of terrain in a PVP map to gain an unfair advantage over other players. In certain maps it might be possible to enter a location which is normally unreachable by players of the other faction. You are not allowed to participate in PVP from such positions. If you access a location that can’t be reached using normal character controls (i.e. running, jumping, riding), you are also using a Terrain Exploit. Foxing into another Factions Base, or foxing/kiting past ANY GUARDS, is also considered a Terrain Exploit. If you can attack others and they can't attack you you're using a Terrain Exploit.

    5. Dual Boxing:

    Dual Boxing is when a single person logs on to Shaiya with two or more accounts on two or more computers on the same Shaiya server at the same time. Dual boxing is prohibited IF you are power leveling yourself, and subject to punishment for one or both of the accounts. Dual boxing in PVP zones is prohibited,

    6. Exploiting bugs or glitches to gain advantages:

    If you find a bug or glitch that allows your character to do something it isn't supposed to be able to do, you should report it IMMEDIATELY through a ticket or the bug report form. If you are found exploiting this bug/glitch to gain unfair advantages, this is reportable and can result in a suspension of the account.

    Please remember, that if you want to report a player who's exploiting bugs, send a ticket. If you want to report the glitch itself, it's better to use the form.

    7. Summoning Party Members:

    Summoning players into PvP battlegrounds or zones that they cannot access through other means is a bannable offense. If your character cannot get into a zone through a portal, he/she is not allowed to be there. This concerns characters that are too high or too low to enter the map. In the event of a bug causing the portal to malfunction and your character gains access to a zone that he normally isn’t allowed to be in, this is not considered an excuse. As for higher level characters, while all PvP battlegrounds have a function that teleports you out of the zone if you are above the level requirement, in case this does not happen within two minutes, the player has to leave the zone immediately.

    #Exception: The Stable Erde map contains zones for different levels. There are veils in place that will teleport lower level characters that are trying to enter a higher level zone. In case a low level characters finds a way to enter a higher level zone or is summoned there, he is doing so at his own risk and is “Fair game”.

    9. Killing players on a PvE map:

    Through an in-game bug or incorrect character revival, it is possible for a member of one faction to end up in the starting zones for the other faction. In such cases, the player should exit the map by clicking “Go to Battleground”, using a teleport scroll or sending in a ticket. If the player decides to exploit this by killing other players and/or summoning other members of his faction he will be suspended and all of his kill will be removed. Anyone who has been summoned on the map and has killed players there will receive the same punishment.
